The holidays are now coming to a close and many caregivers start to think about their New Year’s Resolutions for 2016. Take some time to think about changes and adjustments you can make for the new year to simplify and maximize your caregiving.
Here are some suggestions to get you started.
~This year value yourself and the work you are doing, and protect your health and well-being.
~This year accept help when offered, be a gracious receiver.
~This year eat nutritious foods, and drink enough water.
~This year schedule 20-40 minutes of “me time” breaks daily.
~This year research new resources and programs in your community.
~This year use Respite monthly, whether it is using an Adult Day Center or having a family member or agency caregiver who will give you 4 hours or more to enjoy a stress free activity.
~This year develop a contingency plan if you become ill, write it down and let others know the plan and help make it happen.
These are just a few ideas, can you share your 2016 resolution?
